    Fashion Technology . Grade 10 . Open . TDJ2OP
    Do you like fashion? Do you want to learn how to sew? Then this is the course for you! In Fashion
    Technology you will be introduced to the safe use of sewing machines and equipment, fabric
    knowledge, the design process and the use of patterns. Through the creation of projects such as bags
    and clothing for men and women, you will become knowledgeable life-long consumers. This course is
    open to all students and is recommended as preparation for the grade 11 Fashion Arts multiple credit
    package. Prerequisite: none

    develop the design thinking and diverse technical skills you need for leadership in this new economy!
    This course introduces you to the technological, computer and problem-solving concepts you need to
    design, develop, and build innovative products and pursue further studies in Technological Education.
    In this fun, fast-paced course, you will use the design process and Computer-assisted drafting (CAD),
    3-D modelling and animation software to solve problems, complete projects and strengthen your
    communication skills. Prerequisite: none

    Architectural Design & Computer-Aided Drafting . Grade 11 . College/University Preparation . TDA3M1
    This course provides students with opportunities to apply the principles of technological design to
    challenges in communications, manufacturing, electronics, transportation, architecture, industrial
    and consumer products, health and safety equipment, and environmental services. Students use
    the design process and Computer-Assisted drafting (CAD), 3-D modelling and animation software
    to solve problems, complete projects, and strengthen their communication skills. They will also
    acquire the basic design skills required for post-secondary studies in engineering, manufacturing,
    architecture, and construction. Emphasis will be placed on architectural design and building sciences
    using traditional and computer-aided drawing methods.
    Prerequisite: TDJ2O1 recommended, but not required
     
    Fashion Technology . Grade 11 . University/College Preparation . +FA3M0 . 3 credits
    Develop the skills you need to jump-start a career in the fashion industry! In Grade 11 you will
    create jackets, pants, skirts and tops for men and women. Discover fashion illustration,
    historic costume, textiles, and portfolio building. Practice industrial pattern drafting
    techniques through the design and creation of pant and skirt patterns and sewn samples.
    You will also have the experience of participating in the CTS Fashion Show!
    Prerequisite: TDJ2OP recommended, but not required

    Architectural Design . College/University Preparation . TDA4M1
    This course provides students with opportunities to solve problems in design through the use of
    technical drawings, model building, testing, and marketing. Students use the design process and
    Computer-Assisted drafting (CAD), 3-D modelling and animation software to research, design, and
    test solutions for residential or commercial architecture, industrial engineering , and manufacturing.
    They will also examine the educational and portfolio requirements of a technical design-related
    career in architecture, engineering or industrial design.
    Prerequisite: TDJ3M1 or special permission from the Instructor
     
    Fashion Technology . Grade 12 . University/College Preparation . +FA4MC (5 credits, including co-op)
    This course will continue to build on the skills and techniques acquired in Grade 11 Fashion,
    and prepare you for post-secondary Fashion or Design studies. Specialty construction
    techniques and various surface design and embellishment methods will be practiced and
    applied to outerwear, active wear or lingerie and evening wear projects. Emphasis will
    be placed on professional construction and finishing methods as well as suitable material
    and equipment selection. You will explore the design possibilities of the “bodice” and
    practice industrial pattern drafting techniques for shirts, sleeves and collars. Wardrobe planning,
    fashion trend forecasting, and promotion techniques for publicity, advertising and events, will
    be introduced. You will also give presentations of your work and plan and participate in your
    own fashion show. You will have the opportunity to earn 2 Experiential Learning (Co-Op) credits
    through placements in the fashion industry during Semester 2.
